Pra Pid Dta amulet LP To 2515 BE

 Pra pid Ta Nuea Takua Hlwong Phu To (โตะ)  Wat Koh Non 2515 B.E.

 LP To of Wat Pradoo Chimplee is one the monks whose amulets are amongst Thailands  most sought out by collectors and devotees. It is getting ever harder to find amulets by LP To these days, and i was happy to be able to obtain this one, which was presided over in the blessing ceremony by LP To.

Back side;

It is a miniature Pra Pid Ta (about the size of a little finger nail) and is made from ancient Lead , which was used from LP Iam, who used the lead to make his famous Pra Pid Ta amulets. The remaining lead was given to LP To at Wat pradoo Chimplee, for the making of his Pra Pid Ta amulets later. The amulets were actually made by LP Iam in 2512 and buried in the Gru. They were then removed from the Gru in 2515 and Hlwong Phu To was asked to preside over the Puttapisek ceremony. Wat Koh Non was once the place of residence of Hlwong  Hlwong Phu Iam.Each of these Pid Ta amulets is different, no two being the same. Hlwong Phub To used to give the amulets to devotees and tell them "Pra nee khong dee na - geb wai na!" ('this is a good amulet - keep it with you"). Many different Master Monks were present at the Puttapisek blessing, including;

Hlwong Por Ngern (Wat Suwanno), Hlwong Phu To (Wat Pradoo Chimplee, Hlwong Por Dte Kong Tong (famous Gumarn Tong maker of Wat Sam Ngam), LP Muy, LP Nor,and many many other famous masters of the time.
This is definitely a genuine authentic thirty eight year old amulet which is attractive for LP To devotees as well as for followers of Pra Pid Ta amulets

Gumarn Tong by LP Jan (Khmer Master Monk)

Gumarn Tong Dtua Jig (small size), by famous Khmer Master Monk, Hlwong Phu Jan. Good for increasing wealth and personal attraction love charm, as well as protecting your household.

Gumarn Tong by Khmer Master, LP Jan, Kampong Tong Kampuchea.

This Gumarn was made using invocation of a Gumarn spirit that is about to become a heavenly deity so it has half Hian energy (prai - a child that died in his mothers womb), and half Deva. The deva has more power, but the Hian tends more to like to display the power. So the Hian personality of the Gumarn allows the magic to flow freely, but the Deva part is where the massive power comes from. This gumarn is small and easy to carry. LP Jan leanred from his relatives who were lay and ordained Masters of Saiyasart. he became a master in his own right at the ripe young age of fifteen, where he found he was able to bind the spirit of Gumarn.

Pra Pid Ta Maha Laap - Lp Waen

Pra Pid Ta Maha Laap, by LP Waen of Wat Pra Sabay, in Lampang, North Thailand. This edition is called "Run Baramee" - It is believed to be a great amulet for luck and wealth. Made in 2538 B.E. Old LannaTagrud with Tian Chai candle wax

This Tagrud is an old one from Chiang Mai district. It has Lanna tradition to the magical inscriptions, and is filled with wax from the tian chai candle used in Royal rituals of Wicha Akom. Tian Chai means 'victory candle', and is used in various major ceremonies including The Royal Sampajcharachin ceremony and the Royal Pirunasastra ritual. Tian Chai wax is thus very hard tocome by indeed, and just for this reason, this Tagrid is a unique and individual ancient amulet that has authentic wicha akom behind it, in addition to being hand made by the master himself, in the ancient tradition, as all old amulets were.

Sakyamuni Buddha amulet - India

This is one of four amulets i found buried at Wat Pah Maha Chanok. They were apparently brought by amonk who travelled to India and brought them back with him, leaving them at Wat Pah Maha Chanok.  This amulet is as far as i know nameless, so i wish to give it a name;

Somdet Pra Arahant Sakyamuni (Chompoo Taweep)

Please click on the images to view enlarged and admire the surface texture of this beautiful amulet. Its not for rent, i am keeping it myself, but i want to share it with you all for appreciation value, and to incite more appreciation and preference for pure Buddhist related amulets such as Pra Somdej amulets,and other representations of the Buddha and other Arahants (such as Saributra and Sivali amulets too). I believe that many of us have forgotten that Buddhists should look to Buddha and Dhamma and Sangha for refuge, instead of magical charms and spells. Those who are not Buddhist and only seek magical charms and spells are completely in their right to go for whatever kind of amulet they like to. I myself love to study and collect all kinds of amulets, but the ones i revere and use are all purely Buddhist. Its a matter of preference of course. For me, a Buddha amulet will always be superior and more powerful than any magic spell.

Buddhist Art and Architecture (World of Art)Buddhist ArtBuddhist Art: An Illustrated Introduction

This particular one i have decided not to rent out, rather prefer to keepmyself, because it is from the country where Buddha was born, and that this amulet is a direct representation of the Buddha Sakyamuni himself. Rare is it these days, that Buddhist temples and lay masters make amulets that depict the Buddha.Mostly these days the imagery is more animist or symbolic/magical , than directly related to Buddhism in the sense of reverence to the Buddha, and practice of the Dhamma.

If what you seek is magical help with your daily problems, then todays general trend of amulet (animistic effigies, charms and deities etc) is what you need, and a modern new amulet is fine. But if what you really seek is an authenic Bhuddhist amulet that is connected the the sacred purity and excellent attainments of the Buddha, and wish to rever an amulet out of pure faith, believing that your refuge is the Buddha, then this kind of amulet is the best thing that you could possess. The same can be said for the Pra Somdej Wat rakang Amulet in the previous post to this one.

The texture of the clay has typical signs of a classic collectors piece, with a grain and porosity that is of the kind which experts and amulet lovers appreciate greatly.

Real Buddhist amulets depict the Buddha, or his attainments. The rear side of the amulet depicts important scenes from the life of Buddha. The baked clay is typical ancient style of amulet making and is called "gru", meaning a baked clay amulet that is buried under the main Buddha statue in the shrine of a temple for many years, and then dug up for distribution. Many times, the gru will be forgotten and lost for decades or even centuries, and then are found by accident, as i did these amulets.
